WHY NCWIB?

Why We Need the National Collective of Women in Business.

The gender gap in the labour force participation among young working age adults (25-54) has stagnated over the last 20 years (UN Women). Despite greater education among women, gender occupational segregation hasn’t shifted significantly.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, more than one in four women are contemplating leaving the workforce (McKinsey) and the representation for young women further dwindles. Women, especially women of colour are essential to the workforce and the reversal of gender diversity progress presents a threat to global economic health (McKinsey).

During economic recovery, it is essential for young women’s economic participation to be supported and celebrated. NCWIB equips young women with networks and skills to bring further success to their careers while also influencing the way the business landscape looks. NCWIB aims to reduce the labour wage gap by empowering young women to participate and succeed in the economy.

It will bring young women together to build strong pan-Canadian relationships that can be carried forward into their professional careers. As the world is becoming more digital, especially post-pandemic, the ability to connect nationwide is something that can and should be embraced.
